nothing has made me more batshit than learning that the original s3 plan was for sam to save dean from his hell contract and the reason that dean went to hell instead was bc there was a writers strike and they had to wrap up the season early. it is literally incomprehensible how many times the show just accidentally tripped and fell into being incredible over and over again
